Rádio Ritmo
“Cada um com o seu ritmo.”
Do you know what can be heard in every corridor of APCM?
Rádio RITMO!
This project has as its main mission the promotion of personal and social development of the users through their participation in activities related to radio communication. Using an internal sound system that reaches all corridors of the institution, including the pool area, Rádio RITMO broadcasts daily internal information, news, and, of course, plenty of music to liven up the environment. Its name RITMO is an acronym for Rádio Interna Totalmente "Maluka" e Original.
The radio offers participants the opportunity to become more autonomous, creative, committed, and dynamic, while also helping to make the APCM environment more active and welcoming. Currently, the team consists of five members. Many of the radio’s contents are carefully prepared by each team member, always respecting the pace and abilities of each individual.
Among the broadcasted content, there are various segments such as “5 Minutes of Reading,” interviews, podcasts, weekly recipes, the daily menu, and even the weather forecast! True to its motto, “From everyone and for everyone,” the radio focuses on accessibility. It is equipped with various assistive technologies that allow active participation of users with greater motor or communication difficulties.
Rádio RITMO is undoubtedly a space where everyone gives voice to their ideas, tastes, and opinions—and where that voice truly makes a difference!

Contadores de Histórias
Contadores de Histórias is a project by the Cerebral Palsy Association of Madeira aimed at promoting social participation through storytelling. Sandra combined her passion for children with the ability to tell stories adapted with SPC symbols. Sérgio joined the team and is part of the project. Recently, Telmo completed the trio of storytellers.
With the noble goal of raising awareness among the school community of the Autonomous Region of Madeira about cerebral palsy and the importance of physical accessibility in schools, Contadores de Histórias have been received with great enthusiasm and recognition. Their presence in schools demonstrates the power of inclusion and the ability to communicate beyond the barriers of speech.
Banda Musical
Rabuçados de Funcho
The musical band of the Associação de Paralisia Cerebral da Madeira (APCM) was formed in 2023 and is composed of staff members and residents of the institution. The name “Rabuçados de Funcho” emerged following an internal contest promoted by the APCM Management. In this contest, all staff members were invited to suggest a name for the band that incorporated a regionalism or Madeiran term.
After several selection phases, the winning name was “Rabuçados de Funcho”. The spelling "rabuçados," with the imperfection of the "A," is intended to evoke the original Madeiran term. The band aims to promote health and well-being through music, recognizing its ability to stimulate various brain areas, such as emotion, motor skills, language, and attention. Music creates an intrinsic connection with the experiences of the users and can be structured to motivate their participation and strengthen their self-esteem.
Through carefully tailored musical work suited to the abilities of APCM users, the band seeks fuller social integration. The performances of Rabuçados de Funcho amplify this message, raising community awareness about the importance of inclusion and sustainability, and highlighting access to culture as a powerful means of integration.
Projeto SABER+
The association develops a project whose main objective is to offer diverse educational opportunities, covering various areas of knowledge. Continuous education plays a crucial role in preserving abilities and promoting social inclusion for adults with cerebral palsy and related neurological conditions. The initiative was designed to meet the specific needs of this group, taking into account the variety of ages and educational levels of the participants.
To maintain skills and stimulate the users’ motivation, the project includes specific and functional curricular areas, focusing on: Portuguese language (reading and writing), everyday mathematics, psychology and citizenship, computer skills, and basic English.
